Doesn’t wine have yeast in it? Aren’t we mimicking the Passover when we do communion?
Does a church offering both grape juice and wine show division and splitting rather than unity?
Being half Indian and half Irish, the deck was kind of stacked against me casually drinking. Also, being sober for 13 years and knowing that wine for communion would probably lead to beer for breakfast, I appreciate the grape juice being there.
Clint, so your church offers grape juice and allows parents to refuse the sacraments to their children?
Is there a year in mind when your church will offer only paedocommunion with wine?
Grape Juice a sin? Scripture says “the cup!” It’s what is being remembered that is important. The blood, the body, not the supper.
Frank, the Supper is only for the baptized. Christ Church has a baptismal agreement that makes room for both paedobaptism and credobaptism. All who are baptized, of whatever age, are invited to partake of the Supper. So if you are of credobaptist conviction, only your baptized children will partake.
And yes, Christ Church offers grape juice (as well as bread without wheat for those with allergies).
The church needs to require baptism for worship. Does this church agreement have a timeline or plan for moving toward a biblical and unified bread and wine paedocommunion?
Require baptism for worship? Hmm..not sure about that. What are your reasons for thinking this?
Re timeline: not that I know of.
Yes, I think so; I shall write a position paper on it. See this for now:
“Is baptism admission or confirmation that one is already a member?”
