Ask Doug: Cussing Characters

In this Ask Doug segment, Pastor Wilson talks about the use of swearing and vulgar language by characters in stories (movies, plays, books).

  1. Jeff Short says:

You compare acting out a murder with a scene where a woman undresses. You justified the former because it didn’t really happen. You also condemned the latter because it did really happen, regardless of what the acting was about. I think that is a great comparison.

You also talk about a character cussing or taking God’s name in vain. Could you explain why you view that more like the murder rather than the undressing?

  2. Linda Rodriguez Pitzen says:

The Center for Biblical Counseling is such a needed ministry. Thank you for serving people in this way.
