“Without a restoration of the psalms to an honored place in worship, our musical worship of the Lord will continue to have the gravitas of a glad bag full of styrofoam packing peanuts” - Douglas Wilson on psalm singing in Mother Kirk: Essays on Church Life (p. 138)
By popular demand, CanonWired is pleased to introduce a “Music” category (see Resources | Music ) to our ever-expanding repertoire. In this category we plan on featuring deep thoughts on music, musical resources, music itself, and pretty much anything else music-related that tickles our fancy.
As the quote above illustrates, one type of music that we think is way underrated is the singing of the psalms. And if singing psalms seems like just an abstract idea, we’d like to kick it off with this video from one of our recent congregational psalm sings (note: this is not a choir, just a congregation). While this music video needs a bit of work before it is ready for MTV, we think it does at least move psalm singing our of the abstract realm.

you don’t have any idea where you can go to listen to psalms online? i try ancient faith radio but it always sounds like somebody is dying. you guys on the other hand are quite peppy.

Would really love it if you guys would let Praise Ye The Lord/Laudate Dominum out in the public domain or at least put it up for purchase so we could use it in our churches. The rendition on youtube is exceptional:
